Notification of Confirmed Covid-19 Case on Campus

NOTIFICATION OF CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON CAMPUS

08/19/2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

In keeping with Onalaska ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying student families that two students who were test-confirmed to have COVID-19 were present on the Onalaska Elementary campus. One was last present on 08/17/2021 and the other was last present on 8/19/21.  Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individuals or details that may identify them.

The local health department and the district have begun a case investigation and will contact any individuals determined to be in close contact with the infected individual.

While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

  • Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100 F when measured by mouth.
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Cough or sore throat
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Chills, shaking or exaggerated shivering
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Significant muscle pain or ache
  • Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting

If any member of the Onalaska ISD community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. If a student is experiencing these symptoms, please contact your campus for further guidance before returning to school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at 936-646-1099.

Sincerely,

Anthony Roberts

Superintendent of Schools
